There once was a girl who loved to read so much that she would often get in trouble for reading too quickly! That little girl grew up and never, ever lost her love of reading. One day, she was able to start working at her dream job as a library manager in the very school she once attended and loved so well that she chose it for her very own children. That little girl grew up to be Mrs. Corley!
I am very excited to share my love of reading and learning with the children and staff of St. Louis Catholic School. The school was founded in 1963 and houses one of the largest private school libraries in our area. We currently have six computers for student use and have an inventory of over 12,000 items. We host a Scholastic Book Fair in the fall and a J-Club Catholic Book Fair in the spring. We also offer the ever-popular Birthday Book Club. These fund raisers raise money that directly benefits the library and is used to improve our holdings. I have found that there are so many books that I would love to share with the students that there could never be enough money in the library budget. To that end, I have created a wish list on Amazon entitled, “St. Louis Catholic School”, and am ecstatic to accept donations of new and gently used books as well as funds which can be spent for new acquisitions. I also welcome volunteers to the library and am happy to put fellow bibliophiles to work.
This year, the St. Louis Library is re-introducing a fun way to help you celebrate your child’s birthday, and to help build up the Library collection. The Birthday Book Club is popular all over the country.
You may enroll your child in the Birthday Book Club from the link below and filling out the application below and returning to the library with a check for $15.00 (made out to St. Louis School.)
An age appropriate, high-quality, hard-cover book will be purchased for the library collection in honor of your child. A book plate will be applied to the inside of the book noting the name of the birthday boy or girl and the donor.
On the child’s library day nearest their special day, they will be the very first to check out the new book! What a nice surprise, especially if you have to be in school on your birthday! The birthday child will also receive a laminated birthday bookmark. When the book is returned to the library, it will be put into library circulation for other St. Louis students to read and enjoy for many years to come. For children with summer birthdays, we’ll celebrate their half-birthday!
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Corley in the library at 754-2041.
