Welcome to PreK-3!
Our PreK-3 teacher is Mrs. Susan Darling, with her aide, Mrs. Melanie Baraonowski.
Our PreK-3 program offers a challenging and stimulating academic environment. We are committed to the needs of your child, academically, socially and emotionally.
Our daily routine includes:
Circle Time – Time when we meet as a large group. We begin with a prayer. Calendar Math is next, this includes the months, days of the week and simple patterning. We read our morning message which introduces the children to print and also the idea that our words can be written. As the year goes by, the children will help us write the morning message. We also explore our theme for the week. Circle time typically lasts 10-15 minutes at the beginning of the school year and builds up to 20-25 minutes by the end of the year.
We have daily P.E. or playground. When we are on the playground we have free play. This allows the children time to socialize and work on their gross motor skills. We spend 30 minutes outside every day except on Friday, when we stay out for an hour.
After P.E. we have snack time. Snack time is an opportunity for the children to share their favorite healthy snack with their friends. We encourage friendly conversation at the tables.
Learning Lab – PreK-3 learns through playing. We provide many different opportunities in the learning lab. We have an art center, block center, manipulative center, dramatic play center, sensory center and reading center. We spend one hour per day in the learning lab.
Short Circle Time – This time is devoted to religion. We ready bible stories and do our SEEDS magazine or have simple lessons in kindness.
Lunch is served starting at 11:00am. Nap time is from 11:30am – 1:30pm.
In the afternoon we have quiet playtime. We set up different activities at our tables and as children wake up they can choose what they would like to do. Examples of our quiet time tables are: play-doh, writing activities, science, puzzles and books.
Weather permitting; we will go outside for another 30-45 minutes at the end of the day.
